As financial advisors, our passion centers around helping you build and preserve the wealth that will carry you into retirement.
It is for this purpose that we post this. You see, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a month to reflect on and remember the women in our lives who have lived with – or lost their battle with breast cancer.
It is also that time of the month, if you haven’t already done so, to make your appointments and do your annual screenings, because Breast Cancer is beatable when it is caught in the early stages.
After all, for all the work we do to ensure you meet your income needs in retirement, I would also like to ensure you are around to enjoy it!
Because while deaths from breast cancer have dropped over time, it is still the second leading cause of cancer death among women.
You may be thinking you don’t know anyone with breast cancer, but it is likely that you do. Or you will. According to BreastCancer.org, about 13% of women will develop it over the course of their lifetime.[i] That is one in eight women. 43,600 women are expected to die in this year alone.
There are 3.8 million women in the US who have breast cancer or have recently completed treatment for it. And depending on where they are in their journey, this may or may not be a death sentence for them.
But you don’t ever have to be one of them.
You see, there is hope for those with breast cancer when it is caught early enough for treatment. In fact, the survival rates are quite spectacular. Today, mammography is the most effective weapon we have in detecting breast cancer. So, this October, I would like to encourage you to set your appointments, see your doctor, do your screening – if you haven’t done so already.
As this is the month to support the women in our lives, I encourage you to share this message with your friends as well.
Let’s be frank – breast cancer is a killer. Unless, of course, we catch it and treat it early. So, let’s spread the word and remind our loved ones that this is the month to take care of business if you haven’t done so already.
As Benjamin Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!”[ii]
Let’s do our best to prevent this from affecting your future…so we can keep working to make your future everything you want it to be!
I wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Your Feliciano Financial Team
